History of runic art.

     It is a wide-spread opinion nowadays that runes are a collection of special symbols dedicated both to pass certain information and to perform specific magic rites. In terms of the language of Nordic nations of Europe, the «runes» word is interpreted as «whispering», whereas the «run» word means «a decision» or «a secret» in modern Irish.
 
   People started displaying the genuine interest to runes in the early Common Era, the runic art dates back to the hoary antiquity though. Initially, Irish nations used runes as magic symbols only for prophesying and fortune reading. The system of runic symbols provided the basis for alphabet later when the need for written language arouse. Numerous archaeological evidence and researches have proven a direct relationship between runes and scripts. Take one example, there are 13 symbols among letters of the Roman alphabet similar to runes and 10 letters of the modern Russian alphabet are allied in shape to some runic symbols. This system is composed of 24 symbols divided into 3 groups of 8 letters each: Freyja runes, Hagall runes and Tyr runes.
